Welcome to Right to Life Novi!

We are a relatively new affiliate of Right to Life of Michigan, having been founded in 2008 to defend and promote the dignity and sanctity of human life in Novi, Northville, Wixom, and Walled Lake.

The right to life movement is very much "grassroots", meaning volunteers like us are the driving force behind the cause for life. As such, we think of the Right to Life Novi affiliate as a reflection of residents' concerns for the unborn. In this sense, the members of the community are invited to "take an ownership interest" in their local RLM affiliate. In fact, without active involvement by residents, there would be no affiliate to organize and initiate life-affirming events and activities.

Leadership at the local level is important to provide direction for concerned citizens who want to support the movement. As baseball Hall of Famer Yogi Berra reportedly once said, "If you don't know where you're going you're liable to end up someplace else." Also, there is strength in numbers. There is great success found in unified efforts.

Who We Are

Right to Life Novi is a volunteer-run affiliate of Right to Life of Michigan, a statewide, nonpartisan, nonsectarian, nonprofit organization of diverse and caring people united to protect the precious gift of human life from fertilization to natural death.

RTL Novi and RLM strive to achieve the passage and ratification of a Human Life Amendment, to educate people on identified Right to Life issues, to motivate them to action, to encourage community support for the participation in programs and legislation that foster respect and protection for human life.

We work on the behalf of defenseless or vulnerable human beings, born and unborn, within our identified life issues of abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, assisted suicide, human embryonic stem cell research, and human cloning.

We promote life-affirming solutions, such as adoption, pregnancy help resources, and post-abortion counselling resources.

RTL Novi is governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of concerned prolife residents from the communities of Novi, Northville, Wixom, and Walled Lake in southern Oakland County, Michigan. The board meets monthly in Novi to plan and conduct the business of the affiliate. We are prolife men and women from different walks of life -- married, single, educators, social workers, business professionals, retirees - who believe that the fight for life is the defining issue of our generation.

We must stand up and speak our for life, and we do. To BE prolife, we must ACT for life.

What We Do

The all-volunteer RTL Novi board of directors sets annual goals in these general areas: public education, legislative lobbying, fund-raising and community witness.

Additonally, we support RLM-PAC endorsed candidates in election years and we collaborate with the state organization on larger projects, such as fund-raising for the Right to Life of Michigan Educational Fund. This is the best of both worlds: the affiliate board sets local goals and objectives but is also connected to RLM's network of approximately 100 affiliates blanketing the entire state of Michigan.

Some of our activities in 2010 included:

  • Hosted an education booth at Farmington Hills Founders Festival
  • Hosted a lock-in party for prolife teens
  • Fund-raised for Another Way Pregnancy Center
  • Marched for Life in Washington D.C.
  • Attended the annual RLM Legislative Day
  • Attended the 38th Annual RLM State Conference
  • Conducted phone banks for prolife candidates
  • Held an affiliate membership drive

Why We Do What We Do

The short answer is SOMEBODY has to defend the unalienble right to life. Innocent lives are literally at stake. We believe abortion, in particular, has done untold harm to families and our nation.

We founded the RTL Novi affiliate because agree with Right to Life of Michigan that organized prolife activity at the local "grassroots" level is the best way to change people's hearts and minds about the evils of abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, assisted suicide, human embryonic stem cell research, and human cloning.

We hope prolife residents will take a vested interest in RTL Novi. We want you to see the affiliate as your affiliate and get involved in some capacity or other because, rest assured, no matter how much time you have to devote to the cause of life, and not matter your interests or skill set, there is a place for everyone in the fight for life.
